  1. The Early Test generally consists of TWO types of tests: You will first get a Rapid HIV antibody test. This is usually done with an oral swab. You will have those results in 20 minutes.

  2. If you test negative on the Rapid antibody test, you will then have blood taken for an HIV viral test– a test that looks directly for the virus, not the antibody.

  3. If you test preliminary positive on the Rapid HIV Antibody Test, you will have blood taken, to confirm the HIV infection and another test to see if this is a recent infection.
